Zanna Cookhouse

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

There's a great trend towards artisan pie-making nowadays, but so often a good looking pie will disappoint when you get the fork into it, and you discover a good pastry, cloaking a synthetic interior, or a simple filling, with a heavy coating.

That's not the case with Zanna, a family business based in Wexford who get their pies and quiches just right. The pastry is crisp and light, the fillings are wholesome and natural, and their love of their work – and their skill – is evident in every bite. Find them in good SuperValu stores and select shops on the south and east coast. You need no more than a good pickle to accompany them, and to make a great meal.
