The Tap Room
The trinity of talents behind The Tap Room are some cool dudes. Kemal Scarpello, who makes the sourdough pizzas they serve, is not just a great pizzaiolo, he is also one of Ireland’s finest bakers. The craft beers on offer are from the Kinnegar Brewery, which used to be just up the road but which has moved to Letterkenny because brewer Rick Le Vert had to expand to keep up with demand for these peerless ales. And Mark Wheeler, whose family have run this elegant country house at the farthest reach of County Donegal for more than two generations, is one of the best hosts you can meet. Small wonder, then, that The Tap Room has been an explosive success from the day they fired up the oven. A sausage, potato and chicory pizza, with a glass of Noch Eins, in front of a roaring fire, and all’s well with the world.
