For more than thirty years, the O’Crowley family’s restaurant has been one of the beacons of West Cork hospitality. When the family first opened their doors, back in the 1970’s, the West Cork that is known to food lovers throughout the world today for food artisanship, and great cooking, was only beginning its march to celebrity status.
But it is thanks to enduring destinations such as An Sugan that the West Cork story has become so famous, and such a magnet for travellers heading south and west to the WAW. And now, with a new generation of travellers making their way along the Wild Atlantic Way, the family are poised once again to take care of people travelling through West Cork, and to cook for them their An Sugan signature dishes, such as the seafood pie, the chicken liver pate with red onion marmalade, the salmon and potato cakes with lemon butter sauce, or the Atlantic Seafood Basket. The room is handsome and traditional, the atmosphere is always effervescent, and the fact that the family also offer smart rooms, available in their adjacent guesthouse, means you can really get the most out of lovely little Clonakilty, a town that is one of the gems of West Cork.
