The culinary diaspora of Dublin’s vital Fumbally Café and 3fE are beginning to make their mark, and none more so than Jamie Griffin and Laura Caulwell, whose coffee and cooking in Storyboard created a destination address in Islandbridge right from day one. Ms Caulwell’s breakfast, brunch and lunch menus take a sledgehammer to standard dishes, and explode them into new-fangled deliciousness: porridge becomes black rice porridge with toasted coconut; the sausage sarnie is free range pork sausage with smoked Gubbeen cheese and McNally farm red cabbage kraut; spuds and eggs has lovage salsa verde and pickled radish peas, and everything offers a cacophony of tastes, beauytifully thought-out and rendered. There are echoes of what Jessica Koslow is doing in Sqirl, in Los Angeles, and the independent café style evokes Melbourne. You need to green light this Storyboard.
