The Stop B&B
Russ and Emer’s Galway B&B, The Stop, is the most cult address in Ireland.
Its cult status arises from its unique qualities: at every point of the experience of staying here, Russ and Emer have sought to make the ordinary into something special.
As a hospitality couple, they seem incapable of lapsing into cliché. Everything, from the design of the public rooms and the bedrooms to the unique breakfasts, from their art works to their own quiet style of running a B&B, is not like anything else you know, and The Stop is not like any other place you have stayed.
They had previous lives as gallerists, so there is an ability to max the potential of every space in the house, and also to conceive of a house that is unassuming from the outside, yet laden with exquisite detail inside.
They have The Eye: they know how to put the right object in the right place; they know when enough is enough, whether it’s an arrangement of books, or a plate of crispy fried eggs with sourdough.
The result is a destination that is both exhilarating yet calming, style-conscious, yet comfortable, unassuming yet definitive. The Stop is the One, the someplace special.
