There is a sense of true finesse in the foods that Kay Burke and her team offer in The Sticky Bun. You see it in the way in which that chocolate hazelnut brownie is just right: intense, teasingly toothsome; sweet but not too sweet. Or what about the excellence of the crispy, crunchy and sticky pavlova, or a little tart of Gruyere and dill, served with some sweet-sour cucumber pickle. This is simple food, but it is no simple thing to deliver it with such calm perfection, with such understanding and authority. So, get in line for a croque monsieur with smoked gouda, or a pitch-perfect scone to enjoy with the morning’s coffee. Everyone loves The Sticky Bun.
