The Seafood Cafe
Niall Sabongi’s third city-centre seafood restaurant, in Spranger’s Yard on Fownes Street in Temple Bar, is another fun and delicious riff on his mastery of seafood cookery. Klaw, The Seafood Café does just what you hope it will do: squeeze all the possible deliciousness out of fresh fish and shellfish, and do so in the sort of energised room that Temple Bar desperately needed. Start with some Snax – salt cod croquettes; crab on toast’ citrus prawns – or maybe the smoked pollock chowder, then move on to some ceviche made with wild fish, or the crisp-and-perfect fish and chops, or plump gambas with harissa and sumac butter. If you have room, then the chocolate fondant is the winner amongst a small selection of desserts. Excellent wines, excellent value and – as always in Klaw – brilliant, cheerful staff makes for a fun-filled room. You’ll be back in Klaw even before you know it.
