For ten years now, David and Norah of the Sallymills Bakery have been making people happy. They make people happy in the most urgent, practical and essential way: they bake and cook delicious things to eat, cakes and savouries that do something simple when you bite into them: they melt away your anxieties, they vanish your cares, they suspend you in a bubble of delight.
For as long as it takes to enjoy that slice of smoked salmon and leek quiche in their lovely space in the Milk Market, or that scrambled egg with Sallymills brown bread, or a slice of chocolate fudge cake, you are removed from mere earthly concerns, and brought to a better place, a place where butter and eggs and flour and sugar = bliss. It's a mighty miracle to achieve this, and you need a great deal of skill, and a lot of dedication. So, push back the door, grab a seat, suffer agonies over just what to choose, and then let the bliss of great baking and cooking take you somewhere special.
