“St Francis Provisions is a class act” said The Irish Independent.
Too right. Barbara Nealon is both an inspired and an inspiring restaurateur, and she has evolved a quite brilliant free-wheeling food style in SFP. Whilst there have been cheffing changes in the kitchen in recent times, it hasn’t registered a jot on Ms Nealon’s laid-back style of food and service, which has always enjoyed an organic sense of trueness and completeness, right from when they first opened the doors.
The food has always seemed not just intriguing, but logical. We all want local oysters with wasabi granita. We all want scallops with lardo. We all want smoked potatoes with black garlic aioli. Ms Nealon and her team produce the sort of food that you find along the Mediterranean coast, or in San Francisco: local seafood; finger licking sauces; good beef cooked over coals; natural wines from Europe. SFP then makes cooking and serving these things seem simple, even when we know it takes dedication and, especially, dedication to detail. The room is intimate and lovely, the cooking is inspired and inspiring. A class act, all right.
