Out of the Blue

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

It’s scarcely possible to estimate the culinary and cultural importance to Dingle of Tim Mason’s iconic Out Of The Blue restaurant.

Like all the significant restaurants, OOTB is not simply a place to eat memorably delicious seafood in an extraordinary setting. What Tim Mason and his faithful team have achieved in this resplendent seafront shack is not just a culinary shift – here is the finest, freshest fish and shellfish straight from the Dingle boats – they have also created a cultural shift. Mr Mason has done this by being unorthodox, and original, and by tapping into our archetypal need for a restaurant exactly like OOTB, and our need to discover such a brilliant concept in a dynamic little town like Dingle. In feeding us, the team at OOTB also feed our souls, and satisfy our deep need to eat and share beautiful food, and to be looked after by caring people. Tim Mason’s contribution to the food culture of Dingle, assisted at every step by his team, has been simply enormous.
