“Legendary” isn't a term to be used lightly. There aren't actually many legendary restaurants in Ireland.
But Nick's Restaurant and Piano bar is one of them. This is a legendary destination, a legendary Kerry destination.
If you need proof, then consider this. You walk in one night for dinner and sitting over there is... yes, that's the Taoiseach. And over there, surely that isn't... yes, that's a former President. And in the next booth, why isn't that... yes, that guy is one of the most iconic figures ever to train a GAA team.
So, a standard evening in Nick's, Killorglin's legendary destination.
Nick and Anne Foley have acquired their legendary status thanks to legendary hospitality, and legendary standards that they have stuck to ever since they opened back in the 1970's. In recent times they have upped the ante with their gastro pub food menu – seafood and shellfish pie; Black Angus beef burger; salmon and crab fishcakes – whilst continuing to serve the dishes in the restaurant that made them famous – grilled Dover sole on the bone; Valentia scallops and black pudding; fillet steak garni; rack of Kerry lamb with fondant potato; torte Normande.
All of this, a sweet piano sounds to lull you into delight whilst John oversees the room with calm attention. Like we said: a legend.
