“Fantastic” was the unambiguous term Leslie Wil- liams, of the McKennas’ Guides, used to describe his time at Hannah Quigley’s B&B, Léim Siar. What’s so fantastic? Well, it’s the setting, of course, way, way down Erris Head at Blacksod Bay, at the extremity of the Wild Atlantic Way, the place that readers of The Irish Times acclaimed as the best place to go wild in Ireland. You might turn up initially for the wildness but Hannah’s fantastic cooking will be what lures you back a second time. If you know someone who makes better pancakes with maple syrup, then lucky you, because we don’t, and Mrs Quigley’s scones are every bit as fine. The Irish breakfast is beautifully sourced and is perfectly cooked, the fresh soft fruits from the garden will put some real wildness into your day. The house is modern and super comfortable, just the perfect shelter from the storms of West Mayo.
