L Mulligan Grocers

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

There’s a certain type of coolness that emanates from people who don’t seem cool – think of Harry Dean Stanton, for example, or The National, or David Cronenberg – and that’s the sort of cool that the team in L Mulligan Grocer exude. On the face of it, they don’t do anything wildly revolutionary – you could go all the way to Stoneybatter and have Scotch egg, Dexter beef burger and chocolate brownie, and wash it down with a few beers. Big deal. Except that having Scotch egg, Dexter beef burger and chocolate brownie with a few beers in L Mulligan Grocer is always a big deal, because being in this room is always the coolest experience. And that’s their secret: everyone wants a part of their action, because they’ve go that uncool cool. Call it unstable genius.
