Ruairi de Blacam grows a great deal of the produce he uses for his set menu dinners in the gorgeous restaurant room of his Inis Meain restaurant and suites. So, whilst you might have your attention focused on something exotic, like sea urchins, or lobster, or mackerel sashimi or some other piece of finery that will appear at dinner, the chances are that it will be that potato from Ruairi’s veg patch that will actually blow your mind. The taste of Aran, grown by the son of Aran, and cooked and served in Aran’s world class destination. Mr de Blacam and his wife, Marie-Therese, have a feel for the elemental and simple things, and a sense of the value of simple things. So, yes, it can be difficult to get one of the 16 seats in Inis Meain, but keep trying: it will blow your mind.
