The Health Connection

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.
  • The Health Connection, Ennis

“We are passionate about what we do!” That’s how Olivia Cahalane explains the enduring success of The Health Connection, one of those essential stores that not only has all the things you need, and the things you want, but also has the expert service and knowledge that seals the deal on an excellent shopping experience.
Take a look at any section of the store, and you can see the hard work in seeking and sourcing that Olivia and the team practice. Whilst they have a strong emphasis on featuring as many locally produced products as they can – everything from Liz’s flowers from Kilfenora to the iconic St Tola goat’s milk cheeses from Inagh to the exuberant krauts, misos and sauces from Llewyn and Lisa’s Savage Craic fermentation partnership – the HC crew also cross the borders when it comes to finding the best foods and products for our health. So head to Turnpike Road if you want the superb Jamu tonics from Gubbeen Farm in West Cork, or Ballyhoura mushrooms and berries from North Cork, or Ballyhubbock sheep's milk halloumi cheese from County Wicklow. And how lovely it is – how connecting! - to place all your shopping in a handmade woven willow basket from the Banner county. That’s the sort of detail that makes the connection explicitly, between the passion and determination of Olivia and her team, and all us happy customers.
