Grangecon Cafe

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Richard and Jenny do it right, and they can’t and won’t do it any other way. And that is why their lovely, simple Grangecon Café is – and has always been  – such a star of Blessington, a star of County Wicklow.
We’re not sure if they worry that the Devil is in the detail, or give thanks that God is in the detail but, either way, their perfectionism, their attention to detail, is the sort of thing that does the heart good. Each dish enjoys almost microscopic attention, whether it is their peerless sausage roll, their classic red pepper and goat’s cheese tart, their kid’s ham sandwich, or their terrific tea back. Whatever you choose, you know that The Grangecon Guarantee that lies behind it: this is as good as we can make it and we never compromise by using anything other than the finest ingredients we can get.
And Richard and Jenny have followed that mantra, with the faithfulness of true believers who have discovered the one true way, ever since they opened Grangecon. they are exceptional cooks, modest and delightful people, and they run a peerless destination.
