The tastiest dilemma in Dublin eating is this: if you are heading down to the Quays, should you eat in The Fish Shop, or The Fish and Chip Shop? These small-scale sister restaurants, a stone’s throw apart, both serve superlative seafood, and pair it with a brilliant selection of natural wines. It helps to know that it you want to eat at a table, then it has to be Fish Shop. If you prefer a high stool and a counter setting, then it’s Fish and Chip Shop. In both destinations, Peter and Jumoke show that simple brilliance can knock you dead every time: dilisk butter with hake; tempura oysters; fish burger with apple and mint slaw; crab on toast; barbecued line-caught mackerel; shellfish en papilotte. Excellent staff, and great value for money.
