All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Whilst an older generation forever associates the little village of Ballinspittle with the phenomenon of moving statues, for a younger food-loving generation Ballinspittle is synonymous with Shannen Butler-Keane’s Diva Cafe and Bakery. Ms Butler-Keane is mistress of all the disciplines: a superb baker of sourdough breads and cakes, a great mixologist, and a unique cook, whose Americana-style dishes simply can’t be found anywhere else. If you want the finest quesadilla in the Republic, it’s here in Ballinspittle, along with a great veggie burger, flawless tarrago, chicken and hazelnut salad, and some of the best breakfast cooking in County Cork. Diva Cafe is also home to all the hipsters and surfers of the region, so getting a table can be tricky during summer weekends.
