The Derg Inn
The Derg is a lovely country inn in a lovely country village.
Mick and Joyce's menu in the idyllic Derg Inn manages to hit all the points. There are straight-ahead classics like fish and chips, and bacon and cabbage and their Derg burger and a Hereford sirloin, of course. But then there are the funky dishes, like kataifi prawns with chilli jam, and chicken satay, and the vegetarian burger on a Coolfin Bakery bap with portobello mushrooms and Cashel Blue cheese, and lamb shank done Lebanese style and served with tabblouleh. This eclectic mix echoes the style of the Inn, a place where a warm fire greets you in the winter, and an alfresco table greets you on a sunny day, and music greets you at the weekends, and where the inimitable bricolage style of the interior is always welcoming.
