Even whilst birthing a baby sister in the shape of next door’s excellent Clanbrassil Coffee Shop, and opening up for brunch at weekends, chef Grainne O’Keeffe and her team have kept their focus after the whirl of opening publicity in late-2017, and have kept on rockin’ with inspired, quixotic cooking that delivers some of the best plates of food in the city. Some dishes are already Clanbrassil staples – the homemade sausage with soft polenta; the hash brown chips with pickled onion mayonnaise; the barbecued cauliflower with vadouvan butter; the grilled broccoli with miso or black garlic butter – but anything Ms O’Keeffe cooks on the grill offers the deep, resonant flavours that is her trademark. Great staff match the boss and, be honest, who doesn’t want a smoked beef cheek crumpet to take care of that sluggish Saturday morning?
