Manager Neil Grant and chef Alex Petit have towering ambitions for the Celtic Ross, aided by an excellent team who over-deliver for the customer. The restyling of the Kingfisher Bistro and the public spaces in this family-owned hotel have gifted it with the style to match the ambition of the crew. Their Wild Atlantic Way menus are particularly imaginative and creative, built on the foundation of superlative West Cork ingredients: Castletownbere crab with cucumber pickle; Skeaghanore duck with Asian dressing; marinated rump of lamb with chickpeas; Rosscarbery pork jowl with pear salad. It’s a thrill to see such ambition and dynamism at work, and the Celtic Ross is going places. Do note that they serve a particularly fine aftrenoon tea, which is also excellent value for money.
