Bijou Bistro

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Bijou is the star of Rathgar, a destination for simple occasions, and special occasions. This staple of life in Dublin 6 sails through the years as serenely as a super yacht. Linda Smith and her team adapt to the waves of fashion, assimilating any modern styles they wish, and yet Bijou remains determinedly itself, a superb destination that answers every need of the food lovers of Dublin 6. The menus are well-structured and well-chosen, so any family group will find just what they were hoping for – Black Angus sirloin; Moroccan vegetable parcel; featherblade with bacon and scallion mash; Skeaghanore duck with spring cabbage. But it’s not just the menus that reach out, for Bijou also offers a beautiful terrace for pre-dinner drinks; a formal dining room upstairs; terrific brunch menus; a superb delicatessen; music at the weekends; excellent wines and cocktails; and their value menus offer simply amazing value: who on earth would cook dinner in Rathgar when you can eat so well for so little. The star of Rathgar is right.
