Megabites Awards - Restaurants, Cafes, Delis, Pubs

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Danny Africano’s Lignum, with Eurotoques young chef of the year Grainne Mullins working alongside the boss in the kitchen, simply blew away everyone lucky enough to make it to this suave room outside little Loughrea, and it is the Restaurant of the Year. Up in Downings, Tony Davidson’s Fisk offered virtuosic seafood cooking, and gave food lovers the Best Experience of the year. In Cork city, Aishling Moore’s whole-fish cookery in Goldie showed the capcious philosophy of the best cook in town, and Ms Moore is our Chef of the Year.

Shannen Butler-Keane can cook and bake everything in the almanac, and people come all the way from Kinsale to Diva Boutique Bakery and Cafe, our Cafe of the Year, in little Ballinspittle. Further West, in Bantry, Trish Messom’s superlative sourdoughs showed that there was no medium The Stuffed Olive could not master, making it the Deli of 2019. And completing a sweep for County Cork, Victor and Maire have transformed O’Mahony’s of Watergrasshill into a beacon of great food and hospitality for North Cork, effortlessly securing the prize for our Pub of the Year.
