Where To Eat and Stay in Limerick City

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

The last time we were in the Limerick Milk Market, on a cold and wintry Sunday morning, the upstairs mezzanine was packed with people doing some not-too-serious yoga moves. Now, if you have been visiting and writing about the city for as long as we have, the idea that a bunch of Limerick people would be practising their Sun Salutations on a Sunday morning is pretty much the most incredible, phantasmagorical thing you could ever imagine.  Shouldn’t they be in a chapel anxiously fingering rosary beads and pondering the mortification of the flesh? From Angela Ashe’s to Vinyasa Yoga! What the hell...
But that’s the thing about Limerick city, and Limerick city food: it’s changed, and all for the better. A small group of brilliant food professionals has turned up here, started doing the good thing, and the people of Limerick, and visitors to the city, have said: yes please, and thank you very much. So, whilst it’s technically a detour off the WAW, Limerick is worth the detour.
