West Mayo Brewery
Are you the sort of person who could resist an Irish artisan craft beer, brewed with skill and care on the west coast on Ireland, a beer that proudly announces itself as having been brewed at Hill Top Farm?
No, we ceratinly couldn’t resist a beer with that sort of pedigree, and a large part of the attraction of the West Mayo Brewery beers is the fact that Iain and Caroline’s brews sound too fairy-tale-like to be true. But it’s not a fairy tale: just have a taste. Here is a brewery where the spent grain is fed to the calves, where chickens wander the yards and the fields, where bees buzz, and where craft beer is brewed: fairy tale is right. But Hill Top Farm is exactly where this dynamic couple established the first County Mayo microbrewery, and the beers come down the hill with handsome names: Clew Bay Sunset; Paddy’s Pilgrim Porter; Clifford’s Connacht Champion; Throstle Preacher; Franconian Smoked Beer; Grainne Uaile. The West Mayo Brewery is part of County Mayo's amazing Gourmet Greenway, so anyone pedalling on the road to Westport should make an appointment to see this fairy tale brewery at work.
