The Shelbourne Dublin
Step in off St Stephen’s Green, past the liveried concierges, into the foyer of The Shelburne, and: Boom! It is 2005, all over again, and the citizens of Dublin have never heard the word recession. The Shelburne is, once again, the centre of Dublin living, the grand dame of hospitality, a place to stay, a place to socialise in the bars – a drink in the Horseshoe Bar is a Dublin rite of passage – to eat in the Saddle Room restaurant, and to hang out in the Mayor’s Lounge, as the piano tinkles and the people come and go, and come and go. The cooking is good without being stellar, staff are first class, and there is a cool subterranean pool in the spa. Dublin is better for the Shelburne.
