Grainne Moylan and her team have been doing the good thing for more than twenty years now in The Pantry. You only survive that long in the food and hospitality business by having a natural instinct for food, and by knowing what people like to eat, and by creating the sort of place in which people like to eat it. And that is the secret of The Pantry: everything they cook and serve here tempts, everything here is tempting – look at that blackboard, and you are suddenly famished for a steaming bowl of beef stew with champ. Look at those home-cooked hams on the counter and you want slices of them with mustard and fresh salads and a brown scone and butter. Look at those sweet, sugar-dusted tarts and you want a hearty slice of homemade apple tart, and a nice cup of tea, and a little bit of time all to yourself. We can resist anything, of course, except temptation. Grainne and her crew know that about us, they know that about all of us, and they know it only too well. They are temptresses, and we are grateful..
