Miena's Handmade Nougat
Miena has the gift. Taste her nougats, and you taste the work of someone with intuitive judgement, someone who instinctively understands balance, contrast, sweetness, texture, satisfaction. Miena’s Nougats are pleasing: they arrest the palate, they make you stop. It’s been no surprise that ever sine Miena started making her nougats, in County Wicklow back in 2012, that her work has met with progressive acclaim. Her fans at the farmer’s markets wanted the nougats so much that she had to convert her garage within a year of starting in order to keep up with demand. Blue-chip retaliers quickly came on board, giving Miena the chance to develop her new fruit range. As soon as her chocolate, hazelnut and cranberry nougat, and the almond and pistachio nougat, were created, they were hauling in awards at the Bloom and Blas na hEireann competitions, with a star at the Great Taste Awards for her almond and fig nougat. These are beautiful confections, fashioned with skill and love. Miena has the gift.
