Limerick Strand Hotel

All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

The honeycomb of local artisan honey, sitting on the breakfast counter, tells you all that you need to know about the ambition of chef Tom Flavin and his team, at Limerick’s pristine Strand Hotel. This crew have thought it all through, from the honey at breakfast, to the Ballyhoura mushroom millefeuille at dinner, from the Silver Darlings herring that starts the day, to the platter of local smoked seafood at dinnertime. Mr Flavin wants to offer guests the pure flavours of the Wild Atlantic Way, and he works extra hard to get there. The hotel, under manager Sean Lally, runs like clockwork, and staff are both charming and witty. The views across Limerick city from the 4th and 5th floor rooms are spellbinding, and The Strand is a destination that has the heartbeat of the city.
