Lemon Leaf Cafe
Tracy Keoghan has good taste. You only need to walk into the Lemon Leaf to see the work of someone who has an exacting eye, and bags of discrimination. The style of the room, the conservatory and the courtyard, the style of the food, all speak of someone who truly understands style, who understands the aesthetic of food and hospitality, and who can filter it through her very own style lexicon. When you learn that Ms Keoghan has a background in interior design, you can understand why the room feels so right. Even in a town with the high standards of Kinsale, the Lemon Leaf stands out as a special destination, a place that always feels welcoming, a place that makes you feel good.
Of course, the excellent food and drinks, and the carefully chosen foods on the dresser, all add to the totality. That mid-morning cup of Ariosa coffee will hit the spot, but so will the carefully-concocted croque madam, or the sweet potato fishcakes with lime and coriander mayonnaise, or a classic smoked salmon, cream cheese and chive bagel. The precision of the design is echoed by the precision and care of the cooking – everything is done just right, just so.
