La Bodega Tapas y Vinos
La Bodega is another brick in the wall of excellence that today characterises Ranelagh as one of the most dynamic food destinations in Dublin.
Ever since they got the doors of this narrow but cavernous room open in 2010, they have won both customers and critical acclaim with a tapas offering that has been tweaked for Irish tastes – larger servings rather than small bites – but which otherwise summons the tastes of Iberia with terrific precision and success. We can settle in here with a bottle of their excellent Spanish wines and start with the classic pa amb tomaca – tasty toasted bread with ripe, crushed tomatoes – then have the rich bacon croquetas, the fiery albondigas with tomato sauce and Manchego cheese, but we especially love the northern Spanish stews like the rich zarzuela with its intense brew of mussels and prawns in rich shellfish stock, or the lentil and chorizo stew, and their bacalao with pea purée is the funkiest fish and chips you can get.
Bodega is a neighborhood treasure.
