The Egan family are amongst the most dynamic of the food pioneers who have created the wave of artisans and restaurateurs that now characterise Tipperary. John and Nora Egan opened their house to guests in 1989, adding the restaurant five years later, so there is nearly a quarter century of service from the family to their community. Whilst Nora Egan has ceded the day-to-day running of the house to her daughter, Mairin, she has developed a parallel career as the creator of Inch House black pudding, a wonderful artisan pudding which won a bronze award at the Concours International du Meilleur Boudin competition in France in 2011.
Mairin, meanwhile, runs this fine house and restaurant with the confidence that comes of family experience, and both the house and the restaurant are places of quiet excellence.
