All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Joe Grogan and Miriam Harte and their team run a superbly managed organisation in the legendary Hargadon’s Bar, one of Ireland’s best-known pubs. In the process of serving terrific food, they also demonstrate a simple, but profound lesson: there is life in Ireland's iconic pubs, so long as smart, food-focused, customer-focused professionals are running them. Mr Grogan and Ms Harte are those professionals, to their fingertips

Their reputation is founded in cracking food and superb value – they deservedly won the Good Value Award in Ireland at the Food & Wine awards – and even their evening menu dishes somehow manage to come in at under ten euro. But the dishes aren’t inexpensive because of low-quality ingredients: in fact, their sourcing is superb – Silverhill duck; Burren smoked salmon; Clarke’s meats; Charlie Kelly’s shellfish. That's as good as it gets, and great wines from their own wine shop complete a happy, super-smart picture.
