
“The best pastry chef I know, and I know some good ones”, is how the brilliant chef Gary O’Hanlon, from Viewmount House in Longford, first introduced us to the amazing baking of Yvonne Murphy, of Devour Bakery.
Yvonne makes perfectly beautiful and deliciously edible cakes and goodies, and has followed her dream to open a bakery in County Mayo. Her background is mightily serious: she studied at Johnson and Wales University in America before completing her culinary arts degree at GMIT in Galway. The result of such serious work is obvious visually, and in taste terms: baking that enjoys a Parisian finesse crossed with the intricate organoleptic delight of the very best baking.
Devour cakes are the stuff of dreams, so artful and imaginative, alluring and wow! One glimpse of these beauties in the shop window, and you will be devouring everything in sight. Never was a bakery so aptly titled!
