The Castle Restaurant
The iconic riverside castle was built as a coastal defence fortification in the 16thC to protect Cork Harbour and Port. It is now a working observatory that delivers the science of space to children. Schools and families use the castle’s interactive astronomy centre, exploring the formation of the planet and the universe, and its planetarium and sundial. It also operates as a lab for astronomical researchers from Cork Institute of Technology, and the Cork Astronomy Club bring their telescopes for regular observing sessions that are open to the public. The building is also home to the Castle Café.
