Where to Eat & Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way (3rd edition)

Archive - all the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

When we wrote and published the first edition of our book on the Wild Atlantic Way, we were astonished at how fast it sold: it went out the door as quick as hot cakes. It was all the more surprising because everyone at that time was predicting the death of the guidebook. So how come the book touched a chord? Simply because the The Wild Atlantic Way is a phenomenon. People love the concept, and they love the reality of a west coast travel route. It’s the best tourism initiative Failte Ireland has ever created. And there is a very simple way of measuring its impact on the zone between Kinsale and the Foyle Bridge, which goes like this: when we published the first edition of Where to Eat and Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way, in 2014, the book was 165 pages long. The following year, it grew to 187 pages. And now, with the new third edition, it weighs in at a bouncy 235 pages. By any standards, that is exponential growth, and it reflects what is happening on the WAW: new people, new places, new delights, new treasures, new discoveries. And, to give you a taste of what we found for the new book, we start this Megabites with a sweet and lovely house just north of Clifden...
