People of the Year 2016

2016 was a phenomenal year for food in Ireland.
Very many of the best people in Irish food had their best year ever. The simple act of choosing our People Of The Year has proven to be phenomenally difficult, simply because there are so many contenders in so many categories.
What's even more impressive than what has already happened is what threatens to happen in the not-so-distant future, as Irish distilleries open up, as Irish farmers bring their own milk, butter and cream to market, as brewers and distillers emerge from colleges with their degrees, as Irish restaurateurs chase their space in the 50 best restaurants in the world.
Food is where it's at in Ireland, right now. Happy New Year, and congratulations to our People Of The Year.
