In memory of Veronica Steele

This issue of Megabites celebrates the passing of Veronica Steele, creator of Milleens cheese and, in fact, creator of everything that this column is all about. Without Veronica, and those artisans and creators that followed her, you couldn’t eat tempura of Goatsbridge trout in Kilkenny, as Connie McKenna does. We wouldn’t be having a conversation about perfectly written menus, as Gary O’Hanlon details, because after all: who would care about that? We certainly wouldn’t be agonising about the perfect cup of coffee, and Joe McNamee would likely have little to look forward to for his 2017 predictions. Veronica Steele changed all that, and changed all of us.
