Archive - all the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

As the year draws to a close, we have asked our editors to cast their minds back on the best adventures of 2016.
For many people working in food and drink in Ireland, 2016 has been something of an annus mirabilis: we have lost count of the number of restaurateurs and hospitality providers who have admitted that their business has grown by nothing less that 30% in the year almost ended.
That’s a fairly astonishing statistic but, behind it all, lies an awful lot of hard work, and a lot of creative endeavour and imagination. And our final restaurant review of 2016 showcases a perfect example of hard work, and creative endeavour and imagination: Hang Dai, on Dublin’s Camden Street, is a powerhouse example of Irish food in 2016, courtesy of Karl Whelan and Will Dempsey. It’s punky, funky, irreverent, and absurdly brilliant. 2016 is ending, not with a whimper, but with a bang.
